Hawaii: Juneau correspondent Becky Bohrer was first to report that two key contenders to replace the late U.S. Sen. Daniel Inouye had removed themselves from consideration and that Inouye's preferred choice, U.S. Rep. Colleen Hanabusa, wouldn't get the job. Bohrer reported that Lt. Gov. Brian Schatz, former head of President Obama’s 2008 election effort, was appointed to the post.
