TownNews.com to Distribute iCircular Editions in its Weekly and Daily Newspaper Clients’ Mobile Sites
July 23, 2012
Following successful beta pilot, The Associated Press’ iCircular business unit announces first major expansion of its mobile shopping service for smartphone users
An agreement was announced today that will make available The Associated Press’ iCircular service to the more than 1,500 newspaper clients of TownNews.com.
TownNews.com teamed up with AP to introduce the iCircular HTML5 weekly ad sites as another opportunity for publishers to monetize their growing digital audiences.
Through this collaboration, customers of TownNews.com BLOX Touch5 publisher platform can integrate the digital sales circulars from the nation’s top retailers into their mobile websites and online outlets, extending the traditional preprint distribution onto their digital properties.
Introduced last September, the iCircular platform is accessible on mobile, tablet and Web devices, making it easy to find and shop for everyday household and personal items that are on sale.
ICircular General Manager and COO Jeff Litvack said: “We look forward to extending this newspaper industry initiative to more community newspapers. The high engagement rates we saw during the pilot phase demonstrate that there is strong interest among community readers to access their circulars digitally.”
“Every newspaper in the country is trying to crack the mobile and tablet markets,” says Marc Wilson, TownNews.com CEO. “I think it’s the most logical next step for us to enable our customers with a technology solution that can bring the preprint to this marketplace and provide new revenues sources from local retailer establishments.”
Currently, iCircular is in a pilot phase with more than 40 publications and 20 nationwide retailers. For a full list of newspapers and retailers participating in the beta pilot of iCircular, visit www.icircular.com. The mobile advertising service is expected to come out of beta later this year.
iCircular™ bridges the digital gap by delivering the traditional weekly circular where users want and expect to see it -- on their mobile devices within their trusted local news sources, applications and mobile websites. iCircular allows national and local retailers to reach consumers in a fundamentally familiar, yet entirely revolutionary format with seamlessly integrated digital, interactive mobile circulars. iCircular is backed by The Associated Press.
