ALABAMA ASSOCIATED PRESS BROADCASTERS ASSOCIATION
CONTEST WINNERS
ORANGE BEACH, Ala. (AP) — Radio stations WZZK in Birmingham and WOOF in Dothan won the outstanding news operation awards in the Alabama Associated Press Broadcasters contest. Winners of the most outstanding news operation awards in television were ABC 33/40 in Birmingham, WAAY in Huntsville and WJRD in Tuscaloosa.

The Alabama AP news cooperation awards went to radio stations WERC in Birmingham and WVNN in Athens. The news cooperation awards for television went to WSFA in Montgomery and ABC 33/40 in Birmingham.

The Alabama AP Broadcasters Association presented its annual awards March 31, 2001, to radio and television stations for outstanding work during calendar year 2000. Television entries were judged in three classes and radio stations in two classes based on market size. AP member radio and television stations in Kentucky judged the entries submitted by stations who are members of the news cooperative.
