What is the AP Server?
The AP Server is a multimedia news storage system that lets you store News Objects, browse or search through your libraries, view, edit and output news. This User Guide is a learning and reference tool to be used when working with the AP Server at your location.

How does the AP Server work?
The AP Server functions in a client/server relationship. Your computer, running a Web Browser is one of many clients of the AP Server computer that functions as a Server at your site. The AP electronically delivers News Objects to the AP Server at your location where they are stored. Users may also enter News Objects into the AP Server. Objects in the AP Server may be accessed from any client computer on your network or via the Internet.

What is a News Object?
A News Object is the smallest piece of information in the AP Server. It can be a Photo, Story, Graphic or Ad. Each of these shares similar header fields as well as headers unique to each type of News Object.

What can I do with the AP Server?
The System Administrator sets up your user rights and privileges which determine which news objects you browse and what you can do with them. For example, if your User rights permit, you can copy objects from the AP Server to your local disk drive and edit, save or delete them. News objects that enter your AP Server may be exported to another computer for image processing, archiving, etc. The speed, versatility and accessibility of the AP Server make it your premiere choice for a news management system.
