Digital Coooperative

New Digital Outlets for Members
The Digital Cooperative seeks to find new digital outlets and revenue streams for AP members. To capture and hold the attention of an audience that is growing increasingly selective – and fragmented – news publishers need flexible online content, distributed across multiple platforms and more ways for audiences to find and share content with each other. The Digital Cooperative works with members to tune their content to work well online, and offers products and services to help them monetize it.

AP recently launched its first product from the Digital Cooperative, the award-winning Mobile News Network, a portal for mobile news from across the AP membership.

To be part of the Digital Cooperative, members sign up for the Content Enrichment and any or all of these programs: NewsMap, Mobile News Network or Marketplace. There’s no fee for members to participate.

>>AP CONTENT ENRICHMENT AND THE NEWSMAP

Enrichment is the foundation service that enables the Digital Cooperative. When you sign up for this service, AP will add a rich set of descriptive metadata to your content that makes it easier for you to:

>Automatically categorize your content in ways that draw and keep reader interest, such as related stories or customized pages about niche subjects

>Support context-related advertising

>Include your content in innovative new services like the Mobile News Network or state member content exchanges

NewsMap is an industry index of members’ content that can make it easier to find and link to member content. That means your content can work in more places and in more products. It can help more people see your content, and more people come back to your Web pages – creating the potential for more advertising dollars
