Florida AP Broadcasters Professional Scholarship The FAPB is offering broadcast professionals the opportunity to receive advanced career training at the Poynter Institute, the school for journalists, future journalists, and teachers of journalists. Poynter seminars usually run five days at its St. Petersburg campus. The FAPB will award scholarships for one TV broadcaster and one radio broadcaster for seminars in 2006. The FAPB will cover the cost of the seminar and provide a $500 stipend upon completion. FAPB board members cannot apply. A listing of seminars can be found at www.poynter.org. To qualify, applicants must: _ Work full time for a broadcast station that is an AP member and is based in Florida . _ Have a minimum of five years of full-time broadcast experience. _ Submit a resume and write a 300-word letter about how they would benefit from the seminar. _ Include the specific seminar they wish to attend, including title, date and course number. _ Include a letter from their supervisor indicating that the station supports the applicant and would grant the time off necessary to attend a Poynter seminar.
