Photo of the Month

Patrick Reddy of the Kentucky Enquirer is the winner of the Kentucky member photo contribution of the month for May for his picture showing members of the Northern Kentucky Technical Rescue team pulling a horse named Cool Hand Luke from a small creek off Snyder Road in western Boone County, Kentucky on Thursday, May 28, 2009. Cool Hand Luke, a 28-year-old walking horse,  was discovered stuck in the mud of the creek bottom by a neighbor of the owner, after he noticed he was not in the pasture with several other horses.

Reddy will receive $100 for his winning photo will be showcased on PhotoStream.

Members are urged to transmit news and feature photos on a daily basis in order to produce a strong daily photo report, and each picture transmitted will be considered for the award.  If you don't share, you can't win.

The winning photographer receives $100 and the Photo of the Month moves in a special display on the wire along with an advisory alerting members about the winner.  At the end of the year, the photo of the year will be selected from the monthly winners and the winning photographer will receive a plaque.

Kentucky broadcasters honor their best work at annual KAPB awards presentation in Lexington

WHAS-TV, WPSD-TV, WFPL-FM
take top honors

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) _ WHAS-TV and WPSD-TV  tied with the most first-place awards of any stations, claiming 10 apiece, as Kentucky Associated Press Broadcasters presented awards Tuesday.

WHAS won the large-market television division with WPSD sweeping the small-market                
competition.      

Louisville station WHAS claimed top awards in Spot News, Continuing News, Enterprise/Investigative, Light News Feature, Public Affairs, News Videography, Sports Videography, Feature Videography, Reporter and Editor.                        

In small-market TV competition, WPSD in Paducah took home top awards for Spot News, Series/Documentary, Enterprise/Investigative, Hard News Feature, Light News Feature, Sports Prep, Sports Feature, Anchor, Editor and Sportscaster.

Among large-market radio stations, WFPL in Louisville took five awards to lead its division. The station won Enterprise/Investigative, Hard News Feature, Light News Feature, Web Site and Anchor.

The small-market radio station with the most first-place wins was WKYU in Bowling Green.

The station was presented top awards for Series/Documentary, Enterprise/Investigative, Hard News Feature, anchor and a tie with two of its entries winning Public Affairs.

Best of Show awards were also presented.

WHAS-TV won Best of Show for television, while WFPL-FM claimed the honor for radio.
