2008 Kentucky AP Broadcasters Awards Presentation Held Tuesday, April 1, in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) _ Paducah broadcasters WPSD-TV and WKYX-FM and WLEX-TV in Lexington were big winners at the Kentucky Associated Press Broadcasters 2008 awards presentation on Tuesday. The broadcasters group is made up of Kentucky radio and television stations who are members of The Associated Press. Stations in Louisville and Lexington are in Class One and all others in Class Two. The awards were presented Tuesday, April 1.

WPSD won 11 first-place awards, including Best Spot News and Best Enterprise/Investigative Reporting in Class Two Television. In Class One Television, WLEX won in nine categories, including Sarah Lane for Best Reporter and Nancy Cox for Best News Anchor. In Class Two Radio, WKYX took six first place awards. The station's Donna Groves won or shared the awards for Best Spot News, Best Continuing Coverage, Best Web Site and Best Radio Reporter. In Class One Radio, WHAS won first place in four categories _ Best Newscast, Best Spot News, Best Continuing Coverage, and the station's Ted Werbin was named Best Radio Anchor. WEKU won five first place awards, including Best Newscast and Best Enterprise/Investigative Reporting in Class Two radio.
