OCTOBER
News director Aaron Ziemer, KMHL Radio, Marshall, for giving the AP first word of Olga Franco's sentence in the fatal Cottonwood school bus crash.
SEPTEMBER
Laura Olson, KLGR Radio, Redwood Falls, for offering her story about Red Rock Central School canceling and forfeiting its Sept. 12 high school football game after a car crash that killed one student and injured two others.
AUGUST
News director Matt Crosby of KQAD/KLQL Radio, Luverne, for providing frequent updates to the AP on the Randy Swaney murder trial, including the guilty verdict and life sentence.
JULY
Reporter Bonnie Amistadi, KFGO Radio, Fargo for offering her story about a go-kart crash that hurt four children and an adult during the Detroit Lakes Water Carnival Parade on Sunday, July 20.
JUNE
Laura Olson, KLGR Radio, Redwood Falls, called from the scene of an apparent tornado that struck a farm near Springfield, Minn., on June 11. She also contributed a photo of a damaged outbuilding that was transmitted nationwide by The Associated Press.
MAY
Laura Olson, KLGR Radio, Redwood Falls, for providing a story on May 13 about the MACCRAY school district in west-central Minnesota planning to go to a four-day school week next year to save money on busing and heating fuel.
APRIL
Reporter Don Haney, KFGO Radio, Fargo, called from the field around 12:45 a.m. on April 4 and offered information on the Fargo kidnapping suspect shot and wounded by police in Moorhead.
MARCH
Tim Lyon, WJON Radio, St. Cloud, for tipping the AP to a chlorine leak at Rocori High School in Cold Spring that sent some people to the hospital on March 26, then directing AP to WJON's Web site.
FEBRUARY
Aaron Ziemer, KMHL Radio, Marshall, for alerting the AP about the Feb. 21 arrest of the driver of a van that struck a school bus in southwestern Minnesota, killing four students.
JANUARY
Bruce Hagevik, WCCO-AM, Minneapolis, for sharing information about an early Sunday police chase that ended with the suspect crashing into a house in New Hope and dying on Jan. 27. |
