Sue A. Cross, in her new role as senior vice
president of Global New Media and U.S. Print/Broadcast
Markets, has responsibility for sales to AP's
domestic newspaper and broadcast customers as
well as sales to all digital customers. She has
been vice president/online for U.S. Newspaper
Markets at The Associated Press since 2005, directing
strategy, product development, business operations
and online services for newspaper Web sites that
collectively reach more than 60 million people
a month. Cross, 47, led development of Money &
Markets, AP's multimedia financial information
service, helped launch AP's Online Video Network
in 2006 and initiated redevelopment of AP's hosted
online news. Based in Los Angeles, she served
as regional vice president for the Western U.S.
in 2004-2005 and expanded AP's services for the
U.S. ethnic media market. From 1998 through 2003,
she was chief of bureau for Los Angeles, overseeing
international, national and state coverage from
California and Nevada. She created a multimedia
newsroom and expanded AP's West Coast entertainment
report with a focus on real-time coverage of entertainment
events. Cross served as AP's bureau chief in Phoenix,
assistant bureau chief in Chicago, and news editor
in Illinois and Texas. She joined the AP in Cincinnati
in 1983, and also worked in the Columbus and Toledo,
Ohio, and Juneau, Alaska, bureaus. Cross holds
a bachelor's degree in journalism from Ohio State
University and is active in number journalism
and community boards and organizations.

David Saabye is deputy director of U.S. online
newspaper markets, based in New York.
Most recently, Saabye was corporate director
of online services for the Journal Register Co.
since 2005. In that position he led the company's
online growth strategy and oversaw operations
for more than 200 newspaper-affiliated Web sites.
Saabye started his newspaper career in 1997 at
Southern Rhode Island Newspapers as an editorial
page designer. He is a graduate of the University
of Vermont.

Kate Butler was named Business Development Director
in October 2005. Before that, she was assistant
chief of bureau for The Associated Press in California
and Nevada.
Before joining the Associated Press, Butler
was senior business team leader at The Orange
County Register in Santa Ana, California. She
has been an editor at Bloomberg News in London
and a reporter and editor at papers in California,
Massachusetts and Connecticut. |

Jay Tuten was named Hosted Product Manager in
June 2006. He was previously interactive content
director for the LA News Group (LANG), of Media
News Group Interactive. In that role, he oversaw
the strategy and operations for the web sites
of the LA Daily News, seven other southern California
newspapers, plus a regional site, LA.com. |

Friedman

Elanit Friedman was named online traffic manager,
based in New York, in September 2007. Before that,
she was the new media assistant for the online
newspaper team. As online traffic manager, Friedman
tracks and analyzes member sites and manages all
advertising campaigns for AP's hosted product.
Before joining the Associated Press, Friedman
worked as a reporter for a number of newspapers
in southern California. She also has a background
in crime and intelligence analysis.
She is a graduaate of the California State University,
Northridge with a degree in Political Science
and Journalism |
