An APME-designed program led by consultant Peggy Hollman,
Sept. 27-28, NEAPNEA fall conference, Ogunquit, Maine

In our fast-paced, deadline environment, when is the last time that you had the luxury of talking about the kind of journal

ÊÊ In our fast-paced, deadline environment, when is the last time that you had the luxury of talking about the kind of journalism that brings you to work each day -- the passion that got you into the business in the first place?

ÊÊ On Sept. 27-28, join other New England journalists for just such a discussion ø Telling GREAT Stories ø led by Peggy Holman. You'll pursue the question of what it takes for our newsrooms to do great work, using approaches that have worked for organizations and communities worldwide. Peggy Holman is a consultant who has been supporting "whole system" change in organizations for the past decade.Ê "Whole system" means a change that causes a shift in the underlying assumptions and values that guide people.

ÊÊ Holman believes that journalists hold a significant public trust because they function as national storytellers.Ê She will lead us on a discovery that will focus on the importance of our questions, of journalists as communicators and, both in our newsrooms and on our pages, how we can make decisions that will yield positive results.

ÊÊ Please join the discussion, which will begin on 3:30 on Friday afternoon and will resume at 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning. If possible, have several people from your newspaper attend. Each paper will receive material to reinvent the discussion back in the newsroom.

ÊÊ For papers that are commuting each day to the conference, there are special incentives if a team of journalists attends.Ê For information, call Andrea Nemitz at The Portland Press Herald (207-791-6320), or Lance Johnson at The Day of New London (860-442-2200).
