Michael Moore
The Keene (NH) Sentinel

Suzanne Andrew places her hand on the hearse carrying the body of her boyfriend, Morgan McDuffee, after his funeral service in Peterborough on March 7. The photo was one of several offered to the network nearly 24 hours before the Sentinel, a PMs paper, would go to press again. McDuffee, a Bates College student, was stabbed to death in Lewiston, Maine, where a 19-year-old was charged with the death.

Honorable Mentions

Rich Beauchesne
Portsmouth (N.H.) Herald
North Hampton firefighter John Goodwin pokes his head through a hole in the roof while working to control a fire in a Rye home on March 4. The four-alarm fire heavily damaged the 1901 Victorian but no one was injured.

Wayne Carter
Eagle Times, Claremont, N.H.
In an unusual take on the annual town-meeting season, Wayne Carter was on the outside looking in for this March 5 shot of State Rep. Erron Carey of Chester speaking to gathered voters in Baltimore, Vt.
