The Esser Report:

News of Washington broadcast:

We had 15 tips and stories in February, compared with 19 in January.

Dan Thesman of Blue Mountain Television, College Place; and Ian Cope of KXRO, Aberdeen, are top contributors for February.

Thesman called AP with the breaking news that three people had been killed in a motor home fire at Walla Walla. Cope covered a drug-related shooting in Hoquiam on President's Day that left one person dead and another wounded.

Each earns $75 for his efforts. Thanks, gentlemen.

KRKO-AM of Everett announced partnership with Fox Sports Radio for its new 34,000-watt daytime/50,000 watt nighttime signal in the Puget Sound market.

KJR-FM, Seattle, Classic Hits '60s-'80s, began promoting itself in February as the station that reports "only the good news." For example, program director Jay Kelly says, instead of reporting a 7 percent jobless rate it reports 93 percent of the workforce is still employed.
