Oklahoma Legislature

After the Oklahoma Legislature concluded its 2003 session, the Oklahoma City bureau of The Associated Press was ready with a package of six stories on what the legislature accomplished.

One story took us into a bowling alley where the asthmatic owner and a cigar-smoking bowler with coronary problems complained about a new law that will prohibit smoking in public places.

Another introduces us to a state employee who is fleeing the state after losing her job because of budget cutbacks.

A third story took us to a horse paddock to discuss the Legislature's inaction on a bill seen as key to the future of the state's third-largest industry _ horse breeding and ring.

Another story broke down how the Legislature's actions will hit us in the pocketbook.

Another took us into an Indian casino to discuss a failed attempt to pass legislation that would have given the state a share of the gambling pot.

And another story discussed how delays in implementing a proposed lottery mean cash-strapped schools would not benefit from the plan for at least three years.

Here are the stories:

Horse Racing

Budget Cuts

Fee Increases

Smoking Rules

Oklahoma Lottery

Tribal Gaming
