McAlester, Woodward and Daily Oklahoman win sweepstakes

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ The Daily Oklahoman, The McAlester News-Capital & Democrat and the Woodward News won sweepstakes awards at the 2002 Carl Rogan Awards Program sponsored by the AP/Oklahoma News Executives.  

The awards were presented Saturday in downtown Oklahoma City at the annual AP/ONE convention.
  
The sweepstakes in Division A went to The Daily Oklahoman for a series of sports columns by Jenni Carlson.
  
In Division B, an investigative series by Kandra Branam, "Trail of Missteps," won the sweepstakes for the McAlester News-Capital & Democrat.

The Woodward News took top honors in Division C for its investigative reporting on "School Funding Series," by J.B. Blosser Bittner.

Kelly Kerr of the Tulsa World picked up the sweepstakes award in photography for his work.
  
The 2002 contest was judged by AP members in Nebraska and South Dakota.
