Jennifer Brown, 26, is the 2001 AP Oklahoma City staffer of the year.

She graduated from Cottey College in Nevada, Mo., and the University of Montana's journalism school. She grew up in Kalispell, Mont.

Before joining The AP in November 2000, she was a reporter for the Tyler Morning Telegraph in East Texas and the Great Falls Tribune in Montana.
 
Her first journalism job was writing a column on Glacier National Park for the weekly Hungry Horse News in Columbia Falls, Mont.

When she's not working, Jennifer is camping,  kickboxing or walking her Labrador retriever, Bowman. She also tutors through Project Read.
