Benjaminson
named supervisory correspondent for AP's Houston bureau
DALLAS -- Wendy
Benjaminson, an assistant managing editor at the Houston Chronicle,
has been named supervisory correspondent for the Houston bureau
of The Associated Press.
AP Texas Chief of Bureau Dale Leach announced Benjaminson's
appointment Jan. 25.
Benjaminson began her journalism career in 1983 at The Washington
Times. She later worked as a reporter for United Press International
and Market News Service before joining The Associated Press'
Washington bureau in 1990 as night political editor.
She worked briefly in the AP's Houston bureau before joining
the former Houston Post in 1992 as assistant city editor.
She moved to the Chronicle a year later and has served in
various roles, including assistant state editor, politics
editor, metropolitan editor and, currently, assistant managing
editor in charge of the Sunday paper.
Benjaminson, a 1983 graduate of the University of Maryland,
replaces Michael Graczyk, who is moving to a broader reporting
role with the AP in Texas.
