Riha named AP's bureau chief in Iowa
DES MOINES, Iowa
-- Carol Ann Riha, news editor for The Associated Press in
Des Moines, Iowa, has been appointed chief of bureau in charge
of AP's Iowa operations.
The appointment was announced Feb. 13 by John Lumpkin, AP's
vice president/business operations for U.S. Newspaper Markets.
She replaces Frank Fisher, who resigned.
Riha has been Des Moines news editor since 1999 and helped
direct AP's coverage of the Iowa presidential caucuses in
2000 and 2004.
She joined the AP in 1983 in Detroit, where she served as
broadcast editor, and transferred to Portland, Ore., in 1988.
Riha previously worked at WMT Radio and KLWW-AM in Cedar Rapids,
Iowa. She was born in Marshalltown, Iowa, and raised in Cedar
Rapids. She is a graduate of George Fox University in Newberg,
Ore.
