Ron
Fournier returns to AP as online political editor
NEW YORK -- Ron Fournier, who left The Associated Press last
summer to edit a political Web site, is returning to the news
cooperative in a new role as online political editor, AP Executive
Editor Kathleen Carroll announced March 1.
Fournier was the AP's chief political writer at the time he
left to edit Hotsoup.com, a site that was founded by a bipartisan
group of prominent political strategists. Hotsoup was launched
last fall as a nonpartisan forum for dialogue on politics
as well as other topics including science and popular culture.
In his new role, Carroll said, Fournier will develop new approaches
to the AP's online political and election coverage and lead
new coverage on accountability and governing.
Fournier started in political reporting in Little Rock, Ark.,
covering Bill Clinton, who was governor at the time. He covered
Clinton's presidential campaign and moved to Washington in
1993, where he spent 13 years covering politics and the White
House.
