President Bush to be featured speaker
at AP annual luncheon
President Bush will be the featured speaker April
21 at the annual luncheon of The Associated Press before an
audience of some 1,000 publishers and news executives.
The president is expected to address political and economic
issues, as well as the U.S. involvement in Iraq.
The luncheon, held this year in Washington, follows the AP
annual meeting of members, a gathering that highlights AP
services as well as news coverage provided in audio, video,
text, photos and graphic formats.
Others who will speak at the AP events include Burl Osborne,
publisher emeritus of The Dallas Morning News and chairman
of the AP board of directors, and Tom Curley, AP president
and chief executive officer.
The AP meeting and luncheon are on the opening day of the
Newspaper Association of America's April 21-23 annual convention,
and coincide with the annual meeting of the American Society
of Newspaper Editors.
The Associated Press, founded in 1848, has more than 240 bureaus
in the U.S. and abroad, providing news content in text, audio,
video, graphics and photos to more than 15,000 news outlets
with a daily reach of 1 billion people worldwide. AP's multimedia
services are distributed by satellite and the Internet to
more than 120 nations.
