Dan Becker named AP's National Entertainment Photo Editor
NEW YORK -- Dan Becker has been appointed National Entertainment
Photo Editor for The Associated Press, a new position based
in Los Angeles. Becker has been a photo editor with the news
cooperative for seven years in Los Angeles and New York.
In his new national role, Becker directs, develops and enhances
entertainment photo coverage in the United States. He's responsible
for planning, assigning and executing coverage in the U.S.,
and works with Canadian Press to coordinate coverage in North
America.
AP Director of Photography Santiago Lyon, who announced the
appointment, said: "Dan has proven over the last year
as Los Angeles Entertainment Photo Editor that he has the
knowledge, the passion and the skills to expand his role to
a national level. I'm confident he will further enhance and
improve our national entertainment photo report."
Becker joined the AP in 2000 in New York as a photo editor.
He was an enterprise editor at AP's headquarters from 2002
until 2004 when he transferred to the Los Angeles photo desk.
In 2006 he became Los Angeles entertainment photo editor.
