Kia
Shant'e Breaux named assistant chief of bureau for Kansas
and Missouri
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Kia Shant'e Breaux, news editor for The
Associated Press in Nebraska, has been named Assistant Chief
of Bureau for Kansas and Missouri.
The appointment was announced May 3 by Kansas and Missouri
Chief of Bureau Randy Picht.
Breaux has directed
the state news report in Nebraska since December 2003. She
previously worked as day supervisor in the Kansas City bureau
and correspondent in Roanoke, Va.
She joined AP in 1997 as a reporter in Kansas City.
In 2004, Breaux won an AP Gramling education award and is
using it to complete her masters degree in management and
human resource management at Baker University in Overland
Park, Kan.
Before joining AP, Breaux worked for Bridge News in Washington,
D.C., and Knight-Ridder Financial News. She is a native of
Kansas City and a graduate of the University of Missouri School
of Journalism.
Breaux succeeds Cliff Schiappa, who was named Midwest regional
photo editor.
