Kendal Weaver named AP news editor for Alabama


MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Kendal Weaver, supervisory correspondent for The Associated Press in Montgomery, has been named news editor for Alabama.

The appointment was announced April 14 by Alabama-Georgia Chief of Bureau Gary Clark.

Weaver joined the AP in Montgomery in 1971. He became correspondent in Mobile in 1976 and returned to Montgomery three years later as correspondent. He was appointed supervisory correspondent for Alabama in 1982.

A native of New Orleans, Weaver graduated with a bachelor's degree in English from Birmingham-Southern College.

Before joining the AP, Weaver worked for the Birmingham Post-Herald.
