Ritter appointed AP's bureau chief in Stockholm
NEW YORK -- Karl Ritter, news editor
for The Associated Press in Stockholm, Sweden, has been promoted
to chief of bureau there.
The announcement
was made Aug. 26 by Deborah Seward, AP's international editor.
As chief of bureau, Ritter will be responsible for directing
coverage in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Estonia, Latvia
and Lithuania.
Ritter, who was born in Bern, Switzerland, interned in AP's
Rome bureau in 2000 and joined the Stockholm news staff a
year later. He spent a year as an editor on the Europe-Africa
Desk in London before returning to Stockholm earlier this
year.
Before joining AP, Ritter produced a documentary for Kuwait
Television and worked on a morning show at KTVK-TV in Phoenix.
He is a graduate of Arizona State University and holds master's
degrees in journalism and international affairs from Columbia
University.
