Matthew
Brown named Billings correspondent for AP in Montana
NEW YORK -- Matthew Brown, an environmental
reporter with The Times-Picayune of New Orleans, has been
named correspondent in Billings for The Associated Press in
Montana.
Brown has been with The Times-Picayune since 2003. He was
a part of the reporting team that earned the newspaper two
Pulitzer Prizes this year, in breaking news and for community
service, for coverage of Hurricane Katrina.
The announcement was made Nov. 6 by Jim Clarke, AP's bureau
chief for Montana and Wyoming.
Brown succeeds Becky Bohrer, who transferred to the AP's New
Orleans bureau in August, after six years in Billings, to
be a lead reporter for hurricane recovery.
Brown worked for The Record of Hackensack, N.J., the Daily
Record of Morristown, N.J., and a chain of weekly newspapers
in Northern Virginia.
Brown is a 1993 graduate of the University of Colorado.
