The Associated Press names Lorraine Cichowski
to new vice president role
NEW YORK -- The Associated Press has appointed media and Internet
specialist Lorraine Cichowski to the new position of vice
president, product development.
Cichowski has been a media and strategic planning consultant
to The Associated Press since May. Her appointment was announced
today by Tom Curley, president and CEO.
In her new position, Cichowski will help AP develop product
strategies for search, wireless and other media technologies.
Cichowski most recently served as president and chief operating
officer of internet development for eMarketWorld.com. Before
that she was a senior vice president at USA Today, where she
developed the strategic plan for the newspaper’s online
version, which she launched in 1995. She also was charged
with developing the newspaper’s wireless strategy. At
USA Today, she also served in the roles of vice president
and general manager, director of special projects and deputy
managing editor in the paper’s Money section.
A former AP reporter and editor, Cichowski has worked for
the Associated Press in Miami, Tallahassee and Manhattan.
She holds a law degree from George Mason University, where
she currently is pursuing a doctoral degree in public policy.
She is a graduate of Seton Hall University and has a master’s
degree from American University.
