Michelle Roberts named AP's San Antonio correspondent in Texas

NEW YORK -- Michelle Roberts, an Associated Press reporter who spent the past year in New Orleans covering the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, has been named San Antonio correspondent.

The appointment was announced this week by Texas Chief of Bureau Dale Leach.

Roberts joined the AP in 1996 in Phoenix, where she worked as an immigration reporter and a desk supervisor. She also worked for Upside Today, a San Francisco-based business and technology Web site, covering such companies as Microsoft, IBM and Oracle.

Roberts, who grew up in Phoenix, graduated magna cum laude from the University of Arizona. She earned a bachelor's degree in journalism and political science.ssouri.
