Kiernan Bouryal named AP deputy director of U.S. online newspaper
markets
NEW YORK -- Kristie Kiernan Bouryal, assistant chief of bureau
for The Associated Press in Pennsylvania, has been appointed
deputy director of U.S. online newspaper markets.
The appointment was announced Dec. 6 by Sue Cross, AP vice
president for U.S. online newspapers.
Bouryal will serve as a product manager for newspaper online
services and is part of a team helping U.S. newspapers grow
their new media audiences and businesses. She will be based
in New York City.
Before joining the AP in March, Bouryal was director of news
coverage and editorial for ABCNEWS Digital in New York. She
previously served as manager of news coverage and assignment
editor for ABCNEWS Digital.
Before moving to the online division in January 2000, Bouryal
was manager of news and programming for ABC News Radio, and
she founded the Affiliate Services Unit of ABC News Radio
to serve top-market stations. She joined ABC as a news coordinator
and network field producer in 1993.
Bouryal holds a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism
from Syracuse University.
