Feldman to oversee AP Washington convergence


WASHINGTON (AP) -- Carole Feldman, Assistant Chief of Bureau for The Associated Press in Washington, has been appointed to lead the convergence of text, broadcast and online formats in the news cooperative's largest bureau.

Reporting to Washington Bureau Chief Ron Fournier and Acting Head of Domestic Broadcast News Kevin Roach, Feldman will develop innovative news gathering, training, and production approaches, plan major news events, and oversee the budgets for both departments.

Feldman has been serving as assistant bureau chief in Washington since 2005. In that post, she helped direct bureau news gathering operations and specifically oversaw coverage of the economy, health, science, medicine and education. Prior to that, she was a Washington news editor for nearly 20 years, supervising coverage of a wide range of beats and presidential and congressional elections.

Feldman joined the AP in New Jersey in 1976, after working as a reporter for The Dispatch of Union City, N.J., and the Free Press of Kinston, N.C. A New York native, she has a bachelor's degree from Pennsylvania State University and a master's from Boston University.
