Innovation is the key to the transition that the newspaper industry is facing and AP is focused on finding ways to help you capitalize on the value of the cooperative. The Savannah Morning News is using AP Complete to transform its business and explore new revenue opportunities.

More information on AP Complete can be found in the Member Choice Product Guide, available at http://www.ap.org/choice/toolkit.html. The 32-page guide is accompanied by a spreadsheet that can be sorted so, for example, you can view all of the columns AP offers or take a look at everything that moves on Fridays. Both are designed to help answer your questions now that all members have access to all English-language wires (including all 50 state reports), the entire sports report (including a much larger amount of sports agate), and AP’s premier stocks and markets service, Money & Markets, for print and online use.
Both the product guide and the spreadsheet are updated regularly and are useful tools for you and your newsroom. For more information, contact your local chief of bureau.
The Pocatello Project: One day's news, two views

The Innovation Pocatello guidebook is now available and offers an inside look on how the AP used Member Choice to transform the Idaho State Journal and then presented it to the Journal’s staff. This guidebook demonstrates how the Idaho State Journal could incorporate the expanded content of Member Choice, compared to its AP Basic service level, to meet the evolving needs of readers. It can be as simple as a single anchor or a single search that adds value to your coverage, but Pocatello shows how powerful Member Choice can be when it's incorporated into the broader philosophy of the newsroom.Additionally, the Innovation in Action toolkit is available and offers early examples of members doing interesting things with Member Choice content. The downloadable guide continues to be updated as more innovations get started. Member Choice reflects the biggest change in AP newspaper services in its 162 years. AP is overhauling text services to give newspapers access to a broad database of content, including stories from all 50 state wires and AP’s English-language international reporting, as well as business, sports and entertainment. It introduces content-management and search tools to give access to more locally relevant content that would support niche and targeted local publications in print and online. Expanded licensing makes it easier for members to innovate with new revenue-enhancing products.

Exciting news about the AP Member MarketPlace
The AP Member MarketPlace, or State News Exchange, is a new service that lets you share news with other member newspapers in your state. There’s no cost to join. With the Member MarketPlace you can share breaking news, features, photos or graphics with all papers in your state or only selected newsrooms. A few clicks in AP Exchange open this world of collaboration and locally relevant content.
The service launched in April with seven accounts and now includes more than 450 newspapers sharing stories and photos among themselves. So far, the most vibrant State News Exchange is Florida and several new members joined. One active member, The Charlotte Sun, has begun a daily Florida page that features text and photo content from the news exchange and the largest paper to join so far is the Palm Beach Post. The June wave also included papers from across the nation, and participation is gaining even more momentum.
Currently, members can take part in regular orientation conference calls, held every Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. ET. These calls are designed to orient editors on using the AP Member MarketPlace/State News Exchange.
