Evan Berland, News Editor                                                                                      Berland has been news editor in South Carolina since January 2007. Evan joined The Associated Press in the Hartford, Conn., bureau in 1995, working in a variety of roles before becoming the state's chief politics reporter. Seanna Adcox, Newswoman

Seanna Adcox joined The Associated Press in September 2005 after two years with The (Charleston) Post and Courier. Mary Ann Chastain, Photographer                                                                              Mary Ann Chastain has been a photojournalist since 1984, first with The Greenville News. She started as a free-lance photographer for The Associated Press in 1987 and joined the staff Aug. 12, 1997 . Jeffrey Collins, Newsman                                                                                           Jeffrey Collins joined The Associated Press in March 2000 after two years with The (Rock Hill) Herald. Jeffrey covers courts and cops, along with writing weather-related features and sports stories. Jim Davenport, Statehouse Reporter                                                                            Jim Davenport joined The Associated Press in 1999 and is the bureau's senior Statehouse reporter. He worked for 13 years at The ( Columbia ) State covering investor-owned companies, labor, personal finance, insurance and utilities. He writes about South Carolina government and state budget issues, including cuts within state agencies and offices, as well as politics and campaign finance. Katrina Jackson, Editorial Assistant                                                                           Katrina Jackson joined The Associated Press in August 2005 after fours years with The South Carolina Radio Network where she covered the statehouse, education, and political races.  She was also a part-time staff writer for The (Columbia) State covering high school sports from 2003-2004 and a freelance journalist with Imara Woman magazine.  Before becoming a journalist, Katrina was a high school teacher at Swansea High School from 2000-2001.

Pete Iacobelli, Sports Editor                                                                                         Pete Iacobelli has been with The Associated Press since 1985 and has directed South Carolina's sports coverage since 1993. He has covered all types of events from NASCAR and NFL games to high school track. Page Ivey, Newswoman                                                                                             Page Ivey has been a reporter and editor since 1988, joining the Columbia bureau of The Associated Press in March 1999. Page is the bureau's day supervisor. She assists the news editor in editing stories, working with reporters and compiling a listing of the state's top news and handles member requests. Jack Jones, Broadcast Editor                                                                                       Jack Jones is broadcast editor, preparing stories sent to radio and television stations around the state. He joined the Columbia bureau of The Associated Press in January 1994. Jack previously served as news director of WLTX-TV in Columbia, The South Carolina Network in Columbia, WSPA AM-FM in Spartanburg and WSCQ-FM in West Columbia. Jacob Jordan, Newsman                                                                                           Jacob Jordan has been with The Associated Press since June 2000, first as editorial assistant and now as a reporter. He has covered a wide range of topics including health and environmental issues, sports and politics. Meg Kinnard, Newswoman                                                                                          Meg Kinnard has worked for The Associated Press since October 2005. She covers criminal justice issues, including the state Supreme Court and Attorney General’s office, as well as census-related news. Meg previously worked for three+ years at National Journal in Washington, D.C., covering political advertising and national news for the magazine’s Web site. Prior to this stint, she worked as a full-time intern for washingtonpost.com, the online component of the Washington Post, editing wire stories and original news content. Susanne Schafer, Military Reporter                                                                            Susanne Schafer has been working for The Associated Press since 1978. She was a Pentagon correspondent from 1989-2002 before coming to the South Carolina bureau to cover military issues. Susanne has written about military operations in Panama, the Persian Gulf, Haiti, Somalia, Bosnia and Afghanistan. During an Associated Press-sponsored fellowship in 1996, Susanne became the first non-government civilian and the first journalist to graduate from the National War College in Washington, D.C. After arriving in Washington in 1982, she covered major beats, including Congress, the White House and the State Department.

Susanne was a foreign correspondent for the AP in the Netherlands and West Germany. She worked as an editor on AP's international desk before going overseas. Susanne began her AP career in Des Moines, Iowa. She was a copy editor at The Boston Globe while attending the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University, where she obtained a master's degree in international relations. Susanne graduated from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln in 1974.

Bruce Smith, Coastal Correspondent                                                                            Bruce Smith has served as the Charleston correspondent for The Associated Press for two decades, covering the South Carolina coast. He joined the AP in Columbia in 1980 after several years working in broadcast journalism.
