Joy Kimbrough of the Daily Times in Maryville, Tenn., is the winner of the Tennessee member photo contribution of the month for August 2008 for her picture of the family and friends of fallen Marine Sgt. Michael Harvey Ferschke, Jr., watching as his mother, Robin Ferschke, fourth from left, releases the 22nd dove during a burial service held at the Tennessee Veterans Cemetary in Knoxville, Tenn., Aug. 18, 2008. A dove was released for each year of his life. Sgt. Ferschke was killed in the line of duty Aug. 10, 2008 in Iraq.

Adkisson, a 58-year-old Knoxville man, to a squad car Sunday, July 27, 2008. Adkisson is believed to be the gunman who opened fire at the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church while a children's performance was underway.

January 2008 Photo of the Month Winner

Joy Kimbro of The Maryville Daily Times is the winner of the Tennessee member photo contribution of the month for January. Her pictures show Doug Satterfield, of Maryville, wiping away tears during a hearing at the Tennessee Supreme Court building in Knoxville, Tenn., as his daughter Amanda's lawsuit against Alcoa Inc. The court will decide whether Alcoa is responsible for the asbestos-related death of Amanda Satterfield, who died from the disease in 2005 at age 25.
