The winner of the Tennessee AP Photo of the Year for 2012 was George Walker, IV of The Tennessean. His picture shows equine medical staff working to cool down Arcadius after he won the $150,000 Iroquois Steeplechase horse race at Percy Warner Park, Saturday, May 12, 2012, in Nashville, Tenn. The 8-year-old gelding collapsed at a station placed just beyond the finish line of the 3-mile race and, according to an official course veterinarian, died from "a heart attack" and a possible aneurysm.
The winner of the Tennessee AP Photo of the Year for 2011 was John Partipilo of The Tennessean. His picture shows Tennessee State Troopers arresting Occupy Nashville protesters in the early morning hours on the Legislative Plaza in Nashville, Tenn. on Oct. 28, 2011.
The winner of the Tennessee AP's Photo of the Year for 2010 is Shelley Mays of The Tennessean of Nashville. Her photograph shows neighbors carrying Janie Cramen to an ambulance after she was rescued by boat from her home due to flooding in West Nashville.
