AP hires Barbara Rodriguez as reporter in Iowa

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — An Associated Press journalist who has worked as a reporter and editorial assistant at the cooperative since 2008 has been hired as a reporter for the AP's Des Moines bureau.

The appointment of Barbara Rodriguez was announced Friday by David Scott, the AP’s regional editor for the central U.S., and Scott McFetridge, the AP’s news editor for Iowa and Nebraska.

The 26-year-old Rodriguez will move to Des Moines from Chicago, where she worked at the AP’s Central Region editing desk. She previously worked as a reporter in the AP’s Columbus, Ohio, bureau and as a legislative reporter in Madison, Wis.

She began her AP career as an editorial assistant in North Carolina.

Rodriguez grew up in Miami and graduated from Boston University in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism.
