SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — The Associated Press has named Carson Walker as its new news editor for North Dakota and South Dakota.

Walker returned to the cooperative’s Sioux Falls bureau in July 2013 as a breaking news reporter. In his new position, he will oversee the AP’s reporting staff in North Dakota and South Dakota and have responsibility for the creation of the AP’s report in both states.

The 47-year-old Walker will be based in Sioux Falls.

Walker began his professional career at KDLT-TV in Sioux Falls, where he worked as a reporter, anchor and producer. He was later a reporter at The Argus Leader in Sioux Falls and served as KDLT’s news director before joining the AP in 1998 as the Dakotas Broadcast Editor.

He is a 1989 graduate of Colorado State University.
