The U.S. are set to open their new embassy in Jerusalem on the 14 May 2018.

AP is planning to bring you a range of services tailored to your needs.

The United States is to open its new embassy in Jerusalem on 14 May, following President Donald Trump’s controversial decision to recognise the city as the capital of the State of Israel, overturning decades of U.S. policy.

The relocation date has been accelerated to coincide with the 70th anniversary of Israel declaring independence in 1948. The embassy will initially consist of just a few offices inside an existing U.S. facility in Jerusalem, with the bulk of diplomatic staff remaining in Tel Aviv.

Since Trump's recognition, Palestinians have reduced contacts with the United States and declared Washington unfit to mediate in peace negotiations with Israel. Protests are possible in the West Bank.
