AP Mobile app features audio news updates, powered by Stitcher

The Associated Press today announced that the award-winning AP Mobile application will now feature audio news updates, powered by Stitcher. These 3-minute top news summaries will be updated every hour, giving users another way of experiencing AP’s powerful journalism.

“Stitcher is an industry leader in providing digital audio experiences across platforms, and AP is thrilled to introduce audiocasts to our mobile audience,” said Michael Boord, AP’s global director, mobile products.

The audiocasts will be available on the iOS version of AP Mobile and may expand to other platforms in the future. AP’s news updates will also be available on Stitcher.

“We’re excited to bring AP’s esteemed news and reporting to Stitcher listeners,” said Noah Shanok, CEO of Stitcher. “News is our most popular category, with more than 70 percent of listeners accessing global news and information regularly. And now Stitcher will be made available on AP Mobile, one of the top mobile news apps in the market, which only adds to our story.”

AP Mobile, the most comprehensive, accurate, and content-rich mobile app for local and global news, is available as a free download at www.getapmobile.com or through various app stores.  The app features stories from more than 1,000 trusted local newspapers and broadcasters and the best of AP's photos, videos, interactives and national and international coverage.

Since launching in June 2008, the app has already been downloaded more than 12 million times. AP Mobile is available on multiple platforms including iOS, Android, Windows 8, Windows Phone and BlackBerry.
