U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken is pressing ahead with a diplomatic tour of the Middle East beginning Feb. 6.

AP brings you a range of services tailored to your needs.

The tour serves as part of his efforts to secure a cease-fire in the Israel-Hamas war in exchange for the release of hostages.

Blinken was in Cairo on Tuesday for a meeting with Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el-Sisi and was headed to Qatar later the same day.

As well as seeking progress on a cease-fire deal, Blinken is holding talks on the potential normalization of relations between Israel and Saudi Arabia and on preventing an escalation of regional fighting.

The diplomatic visit comes amid growing concerns about Israel’s stated intentions to expand the combat in Gaza to the town of Rafah, near the Egyptian border. Blinken has said repeatedly that Palestinians must not be forced out of Gaza.
