Today, the AP Corporate Archives comprises a growing body of collections documenting the origins of AP, the growth of its membership, the development of newspaper, wire, broadcast, and Internet journalism in the United States and abroad, and the careers of numerous AP journalists. A collection of artifacts preserves the material history of news transmission, while an ongoing oral history program complements the documentary record.

Donating Personal Papers

The AP Corporate Archives seeks to add to its holdings by establishing personal papers collections named for individual donors. Such collections, typically distinct from administrative records, will comprehensively document the individual careers of AP staffers through their own correspondence, diaries, notes, speeches, scrapbooks, memoirs, photographs, or other materials.

Transferring Collections to the AP Corporate Archives

After working with donors to identify materials appropriate for the AP Corporate Archives, staff will make shipping arrangements and pay shipping costs. In certain circumstances, it may be possible for a donor to take a tax deduction for a donation to The AP. Donors are encouraged to consult their tax accountants or attorneys.
