Awards and recognition

The outstanding work of our journalists has been recognized with numerous awards, including 56 Pulitzer Prizes.

We’ve won 56 Pulitzer Prizes, including 34 for photography, since the award was established in 1917. In 2021, AP won both the feature photography and breaking news photography awards for images of COVID-19's toll on the elderly and racial justice protests across the U.S., respectively.

Sometimes one image tells the whole story. Our photojournalists often capture moments that are so compelling that they become iconic. Take a look at some of our award-winning photos.
