The Associated Press has become the main international news provider for Norwegian news agency NTB.
A long-standing user of AP photos, NTB began using AP text news in May 2016 and will add video news in January, providing its customers with AP’s multiformat content.
NTB is the largest news agency in Norway with the majority of Norwegian media buying one or more of its services. In selecting AP, all NTB clients will now benefit from AP’s live video news, superior storytelling and breadth of international coverage.
NTB also becomes the first Nordic national news agency to sign such an agreement with The Associated Press.
Joakim Nilsson, International Manager at NTB, said: “Although we have worked with The Associated Press for many years, the decision to work with the AP across all formats reflects our need for a global news agency that is willing to work collaboratively with us. AP is prepared to be flexible and responsive to our needs, and is able to offer the high quality journalism that our clients expect. As a leading innovator of international news gathering, we also feel that the AP is the right organization to help us meet our clients’ changing needs.”
Tobias Osmund, AP’s head of sales for Northern Europe, Benelux, France, Spain and Africa, said: “Extending our collaboration with NTB to be the main provider of all their international news content across all formats is significant for us. It is the first time we have entered such an agreement in the Nordics and is an opportunity for us to provide media throughout Norway with the full breadth of our multiformat news output.”
