Cara Anna, who was in upstate New York, was busy writing the Mideast mainbar but was able to brave the blizzard conditions and get out to take strong, well-framed photos and videos showing how the area was blanketed by snow. She captured perfectly timed videos showing snowplows clearing streets and snow blowers clearing sidewalks. Anna also used her iPhone to set up a live shot from her office window which showed the snow piling up on rooftops and trees. The images were used as lead photos and videos by The New York Times and the Guardian as well as for AP.
