Persistence and determination led photographer Khalil Hamra to secure exclusive interviews with two players during the Iran national soccer team’s training camp in Turkey, providing firsthand perspectives unavailable elsewhere.

Recognizing an opportunity to hear directly from players who had not spoken to international media, Hamra began contacting team officials as soon as the camp was announced and continued pressing his case after arriving to photograph the team’s preparations.

A breakthrough came when officials decided to close the final training sessions to the media. Hamra successfully argued for continued access, and once inside renewed his request for interviews. The effort paid off when officials invited him back the following day for on-camera conversations with two players, leading to a strong, exclusive story featuring key voices ahead of the World Cup.
