Food authority Sara Moulton to write column for AP

Starting Aug. 6, The Associated Press will begin publishing a weekly healthy eating column by Sara Moulton, star of public television's "Sara's Weeknight Meals" and a longtime Food Network host. The column will be available to subscribers of AP's Lifestyles service.

Moulton was one of the pioneers of the Food Network and a guiding force behind Gourmet magazine for nearly 25 years. She has spent much of her career focusing on family-friendly and accessible weeknight recipes. In her weekly column for AP, Moulton will give readers straightforward tips for using seasonal ingredients to create simple and delicious healthy meals. Her all-original recipes will take a holistic approach to healthy eating, with an emphasis on whole grains, healthy fats and low sugar.
“The one thing I’ve really missed about doing a live TV show for the Food Network is the chance to be in touch with home cooks across the country,” Moulton said. “Now that I’m working for such a large news operation, I’ll be able to reconnect. I’m delighted.”
“Sara has a gift for making food exciting and accessible, for showing people that great meals don’t require great effort,” said J.M. Hirsch, AP’s food editor. “I am thrilled that she is sharing her talent and charm with AP’s subscribers. I can think of no better chef to help Americans demystify and simplify healthy eating.”
