Collin Binkley named White House reporter

We are excited to announce that Collin Binkley is joining our fantastic White House team as a reporter!

As you all know, Collin is a tremendous journalist and colleague who has done a fabulous job since helping out the White House team several months ago. He is calm under pressure and has excellent news judgment and the ability to translate complex reporting into stories that readers around the world can understand.

Among Collin’s many talents are his writing and source development skills. He has a strong track record of producing scoops and engaging enterprise that connects actions taken by those in power to the lives of people around the country. These skills were on full display during his years as a member of the AP’s award-winning education team, and in the time he has been covering the White House, Collin has already proved adept at juggling multiple breaking news stories while also managing to carve out the time for deeper stories that resonate.

He also is a team player in every sense, frequently raising his hand to jump in and always offering to help his colleagues to ensure their stories are the best they can be.

Collin first joined the AP in Boston in 2015 and joined the AP’s education team in 2022 where he tracked how aid was doled out across schools in the years following the COVID-19 pandemic. He also broke news on a host of other stories, including multiple scoops on the Trump administration’s dismantling of the Education Department, and he will continue to help with education coverage in his new role.

In addition to reporting, Binkley has been a state analyst on the AP’s Decision Desk since 2022. Before joining AP, Binkley was a reporter for five years at The Columbus Dispatch and is a graduate of Ohio State University.
