Thanks to robust planning, excellent teamwork, and support from remote editors across Europe, the AP team of Seung Min Kim, Pietro De Cristofaro, Bela Szandelszky, Siarhei Satsiuk, Pavel Golovkin, Mindaugas Kulbis, Susan Walsh, Lorne Cook, Liudas Dapkus, Sylvain Plazy and Chris Megerian produced fast, engaging and comprehensive coverage of the NATO summit in Vilnius.

AP clients were impressed by the team’s work, despite having a smaller footprint than at previous alliance summits. Supported by colleagues across Europe and in D.C., the team delivered a volume of video, photos and text that exceeded expectations. Working with news leaders in D.C. and Europe, Northern Europe News Director Karl Ritter put together a schedule of stories, glances and explainers to roll out before the meeting and as it kicked off, giving clients and readers a deeper understanding of the issues.

AP took the pictures that counted, with only three photographers at the summit. Their photos topped stories by the New York Times, LA Times, Washington Post and al-Jazeera.com, Times of Israel and Swedish Television among others. The video team produced more than 100 edits over three days — 48 edits received more than 100 hits on Teletrax.

A video package on security preparations in Vilnius shot, edited and published early on the day was a big hit among clients, with more than 928 hits on 86 stations worldwide.
