Dogged source work gave AP a significant scoop on a closely watched Justice Department investigation, revealing that the inquiry had expanded to include the FBI’s 2022 search of President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate for classified documents.
The scoop grew out of Justice Department reporters’ sustained cultivation of sources and regular calls about the investigation.
