Chad Sexual Exploitation

AP journalist Sam Mednick in 2024 broke news of sexual abuse and exploitation of refugees in camps along the Sudan border, prompting the international aid group Doctors Without Borders to launch an investigation.

When the investigation was completed, Mednick learned from those within the group that it uncovered far more than she had initially reported. Thanks to the trust she had built with her sources, Mednick gained access to the confidential internal report, allowing AP to continue its exclusive coverage of this important accountability issue.
