Seung Min Kim joins AP White House team
In a memo to staff on Thursday, Washington Bureau Chief Anna Johnson announced that Seung Min Kim will join AP’s White House team:
We are thrilled to announce that Seung Min Kim, a reporter with The Washington Post and one of the most accomplished and versatile reporters in Washington, will be joining the AP’s stellar White House team!
Few journalists in the capital have a network of sources that is as deep at both the White House and on Capitol Hill, and in her new assignment, Seung Min will help us bridge that divide to deliver a more layered understanding of the complex relationship between the Biden administration and Congress. She was a lead reporter on the confirmation of Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, and her stories have also included an insightful piece that examined the statements of Justice Brett Kavanaugh with respect to precedent and Roe v. Wade. Her prolific work on Biden’s recent trip to Asia – along with numerous domestic issues – exemplifies her range.
Comfortable writing breaking news – and actually breaking news – Seung Min also has a facility for longer-form narrative. She joined the Post in 2018 after eight years at Politico and is also a CNN contributor. She is a graduate of the University of Iowa and earned a master’s degree in journalism at American University.
She will start on July 5.
Please join us in welcoming Seung Min to the AP!
