The Associated Press today introduced a new U.S. video portal that delivers both broadcast and online video together on a single platform for the first time.
Unveiled to customers at The NAB Show in Las Vegas, AP Video-US will showcase exclusive AP content, U.S. regional coverage and the best of AP’s international news, feature and entertainment video.
Customers can choose “Newsroom Ready” broadcast products, which include high-definition video that is unvoiced or loosely edited and story elements that can be easily customized and branded. They can also opt for “Consumer Ready” video that’s fully produced with reporter tracks and lower third graphics suitable for any digital platform or mobile device.
“The AP Video-US portal is unique in offering clients the option of downloading either broadcast video or fully produced online video in the one location,” said AP Vice President for Broadcast Markets Dave Gwizdowski. “It is incredibly easy to use, making it ideal for both local television stations and digital clients that want distinctive AP reporting. Our clients have told us they want multiple video options and we are pleased to have an elegant solution to meet their needs.”
The site highlights exclusive “Only on AP” video content – investigations and unique feature stories that draw on the expertise of AP journalists across all 50 states and around the globe.
“We are aligning our resources to deliver the content our customers care about,” said Sandy MacIntyre, AP vice president and director of global video. “Today that means more U.S. stories that are different, unique and meet the journalistic standards the AP is known for.”
AP-Video US also features a new HTML 5 player viewable on iOS devices, video preview from every page and editorial coverage outlooks for planning purposes.
AP staff will be demonstrating the portal at The NAB Show this week (at booth SL9005), and a general launch is scheduled for later in April.
